Cheapest Air Flights?

What is the best website to utilize for a flight - obviously I would like to pay as little as possible. I would be leaving Arizona (or Las Vegas) and headed to North Carolina for a weekend. Please advise, Audra Yes - needing to leave for there within a months time. There is a matter which I need to tend to. If I could advoid going, I would. However, there is something that does need my attention.

the best way to go would be go directly to the airline and dont fly on the weekend. flights are cheaper during the week.

I have always used Airtran.com i believe they are the cheapest... However our assistant at the office have orders to buy us the tickets from Delta, believed to be the best in different things...
Ok, I fly all the time. Your getting advice from the guy that flys out of Sacramento, into Providence Ri, or Boston Ma, round trip for $230.00 everytime, or reverse. That's my credentials. Bookingbuddy.com is the best. This site lets you type in the information one time and then check multiple websites. Instead of searching different pages, and typing the same information over and over again. If your a student and you have a college id card, you can use http://www.studentuniverse.com/. I once got a flight from Hartford Ct, back to Sacremento, Ca for $119.00. When booking a flight its best to look for flights on weekdays, never the weekend. Like try Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday sometimes. If you really want to save money the days don't really matter.
Sometimes a good Travel Agent can find you the best deal with the least hassel. I'd gladly pay the commisssion to let someone else take care of it.
I would highly recommend both hotwire and priceline, with cheaptickets comping in a close third. I've searched around for airfare quite a bit, and these three sites usually ring true as the cheapest. Other than that, I'd go to sites like igougo.com, travelzoo.com, or bookingbuddy.com. These sites offer searches of multiple online airfare websites, making it easier and less time consuming to compare prices. As for when to buy, I usually go to farecast.com. They pretty accurately predict when a good time to buy a flight would be based off of past and current trends, etc. It's pretty useful. Another site I've found handy is rightflight.org. They did a bunch of research on the various airfare sites to see which sites are usually the cheapest. They also have a list of most of the airfare sites on their webpage, which can be pretty handy in and of itself. Hope this helped!

compare prices with several websites. Also, you may try booking a one-way there and then a one-way back. Sometimes one-ways can save you a little of money (not always) but it doesn't hurt to try.
