Best Cheap Airfare

Where can I compare airline prices online?

I am planning a trip for 3 adults from 7/18/09- 7/25/09 or 7/26/09 (which ever date is cheaper), from Chicago/Midway (MDW); O'Hare (ORD) is fine also, to San Diego (SAN). Help me find the cheapest airline tickets. ****Best Ans. gets 10 pts!**** ROUNDTRIP!!!

  1. Try www.Expedia.com, www.Travelocity.com or www.Kayak.com
  2. my favorite site is sidestep.com it shows you all the prices for all the airlines by searching the airline site & the other search sites for you. plus, the price shown includes taxes & fees. plus, you can take out or add in factors that are important to you on the left side of the results page.
  3. Always try multiple sites. For one, some airlines (namely Southwest) don't use the "group" sites to check their site. So you have to check Southwest separately. I always check orbitz, mobissimo, and sidestep and maybe one other like expedia. Normally, this is enough to get you a look-see at what you are going to pay. There are also hints on some websites about the best time of the week to buy - yes, just like the stock market, the price of airline tix fluctuates and there is a best time of the week to buy them to certain destinations. But here's my final recommendation, ALWAYS buy off the airline's home site no matter what. In my local paper, they have travel complaints and the story is always about dealing with a 3rd party site like expedia or travelocity and how a lack of communication happened and someone ended up paying twice or got bumped or something. If you deal directly with the airline, not only do you buy direct, but you skip on the extra $5 or so the 3rd party site tacks on to make money. Good luck!
